About Me

8bc67b091ad3daac749b873c9a169b4cI’m Elle, and I’m from Teeside, in the north of England. I’m an avid baker, an interest which has grown in relation to the size of my kitchen! I bake all kinds of confectionery, but my first love has to be cake. I’m quite adventurous in my flavour combinations which can lead to some very exciting results, and I am always on the look out for new ideas, which is how this project and subsequent blog developed.

Recently, I also started to delve into the rather more scary world of cake decorating. This has always been a side of baking I have previously shied away from, as I am not the most artistic person, particularly with regard to drawing. However, recently I am facing my fear and taking on the new challenge!

Aside from baking, I work as a music teacher, play many different musical instruments and love to go travelling – my partner and I often have about three holidays being planned at one time! I love sampling other countries cuisine, and these new culinary experiences will often make their way into my baking. This year I will be visiting Croatia, Montenegro, Bosnia, USA and Mexico, and am very excited to try and be able to incorporate these ideas in my baking.

If you make one of my cakes, let me know how it goes – I love hearing about other peoples baking adventures and its also helpful for me to see how other people find my recipes. You can connect with me through:

A note on conversions: At the moment you may have noticed that not all of the recipes are consistent in the measurements that they use, some using ounces, grams or even cups. I am at present trying to standardise the recipes so they are all in grams or ounces, however until this point, this conversion chart should help you with anyΒ discrepancies.

Note: I have done my best to include acknowledgements where appropriate. If an acknowledgement is not given, I will have made substantial changes to the recipe whilst making it. However, omissions do occur, and if you feel that I have missed one please let me know. Likewise, if you take a recipe or picture from this site, please credit me and link back to this site. Thank you.

  1. Try some peruvian recipes – there is a really diverse baking culture with delicious desserts using dulce de leche (cooked condensed milk). I’ll put some recipes up soon (my family is peruvian) but I’m sure there are tons online too.

  2. Wow! You have some great cake recipes. I agree Dulce de Leche is amazing. I sometimes use it to sandwich biscuits and cakes together. Or even just drizzled over ice cream. It’s very easy to make at home.

  3. Hi! I know you’ve seen my award page (I had to leave after publishing the post!) but I the rules are I need to write on your blog that I nominate you for the Dragon Loyalty Award, congratulations! x
